Hi
I saw your letter in the Mail and checked out your forum on development.
Its a pity more people aren't concerned - Gracetown was originally developed as a worker's retreat; gradually became a haven for surfers and has now become at least partly a retreat for the well off.
Development has been on the cards for at least a decade and was only held back by lack of infrastructure such as sewerage and water.
It is almost impossible to 'campaign against' any development - however what is possible and more uplifting is to campaign for something better :
1. A sustainable development
2. renewable energy.
3. Include low cost housing or short term accomodation for less well off (hint : Landcorp)
etc etc
Maybe the local community could put together a conceptual development outline
Too many times development and outside interests have over-ridden local knowledge and community -
usually resulting in a stuff up.
good luck
Hello all,
what a great idea this forum is....I llove Gracetown and hope that in the future we can live there permanaently. Sadly that isnt the case right now...so we will continue to use holiday rentals and appreciate the lovely environment. Having been involved in the community consultation in the development in my own town (Two Rocks) I appreciate the effort you are putting in.
